2.Steel Boned Body Shaping Corset
All of the corsets in the Steel boned, Waist Training categories are full steel boned, body shaping corsets. These corsets will pull your waist in by 4-5”.
These corsets require an accurate waist measurement in order to size them effectively. We recommend a corset that is 4-5” smaller than your natural waist measurement.
Length
1.Length of Corsets
Corset length is important when sizing these garments. If your corset is too short it may leave you feeling exposed and if it is too long it will be uncomfortable when you sit down. Our store have guides on all of products to give you an idea of which corsets will be most suitable for your height. Please be aware this is just a guide, we have customers who are 5ft but have long torsos and thusly prefer the long line garments. The corset lengths stated on the listings are the lengths of the garments at the front. Please measure your torso at the front to have an understanding of where the corset may sit on your torso.
2.Length of Corsets at the back
Fashion corsets are always cut to be very short at the back, often revealing some of the lower back. By contrast the steel boned corsets are the same length at the back as the front, this gives the wearer control over all regions of her figure.
3.Too long or too short
Sizing corsets can be a little tricky, we have an excellent returns and exchnages policy however so do not worry. If you have a long line corset (anything that is 16" or over) then by all means return the corset along with the completed returns slip in exchnage for something that is 15" or shorter. A corset that is too long will dig into your armpits and legs when you sit down and may not fit around the hips and bust well. A corset that is too short will make you feel slightly exposed. Also a garment that is too short may create the dreaded muffin top whereby the garment under tension doesn’t have enough length to comfortably distribute the reduced waistline evenly underneath the garment. Feel free to return the corset if you feel it is too short along with the completed returns slip.
Problems with Sizing
1.Sizing problems around the bust and hips
Sizing can be tricky to get right but do not worry, we are more than happy to exchange an item for you if the sizing is not quite right. If while trying on your corset there is a 2-3" gap at the back around the waist but the region around the hips and bust is completely closed then you should try exchanging your garment for 2" smaller. If the entire garment is closed all the way down the back we would advise going for a garment 4" smaller. You never want the corset to be fully closed at the back at any region, the tension running through the corset is what is keeps it up and keeps the fabric tight for that body hugging look.
2.Sizing problems with fashion corsets
Corsets by their very nature do run a little small. As you go up a size you will find that the corsets have an extra 2" of fabric across the bust, waist and hips. After trying on your garment you will be the best judge of which size to try next as only you have seen your self in the corset. If the garment has a 5" gap at the back and you would prefer not too show so much of your back then it would be logical to select a corset 4" (or 2 sizes) larger than the one you have.
3.Sizing problems with underbust corsets
Sizing can be tricky to get right but do not worry, we are more than happy to exchange you item for you if there are any sizing problems. If while trying on your corset there is a 2-3" gap at the back around the waist but the region at the top and the bottom of the corset are more close at the back then I would recommend a corset that is 2" smaller. If the corset is totally closed at the back then I would recommend trying a corset 4" smaller than the one you have. The modesty panel is 6" wide and 2-4" should be revealed ideally when wearing these garments.
Waist Size
1.Which Size?
Steel boned corsets are body shaping corsets, they will pull your waist in as desired. These garments please measure your waist and purchase a corset 4-5" smaller. Example, if you are your natural waist measurement is 29" then you would select a 24" corset. These corsets have a 6" modesty which means you can open a 24" up to 30" and tension the corset down according to control or comfort.
2.Comfort and corsets
Although steel boned corsets are designed to pull your waist in by 4-5" it does not mean that you have to wear these garments as tightly as that. Purchasing a garment that is 4-5" smaller than your waist just means that you have the option to reduce you waist by this amount. It is not mandatory. You can choose to wear your corset according to comfort or control, whichever you prefer. These garments are designed to be comfortable next to the skin. They have fine cotton linings and no metal componements are exposed next to your body.
3.Measuring for a corset
To gain an accurate waist measurement just measure your waist at the smallest point, this is usually across the belly button area.
Bust
1.Corset Bust Sizes
Fashion corsets are cut a little straighter than the steel corsets. The bust on fashion corsets is always +4" larger than the waist and the hip measurement is always +6" larger than the waist. Steel corsets have a bust +8" larger than the waist and a hip measurement +10" larger than the waist. Fashion corsets tend to be more suitable for ladies who have a cup size of C or under and the Steel boned corsets are more suitable for ladies with a D cup or over.
2.Bust Support
Steel boned corsets are designed to push and lift the cleavage if desired for a flattering cleavage line. You will find that you can wear corsets in this manner all day without losing support and control. The support comes form the steel bones and the tension created in the corset. Steel boned corsets are designed to offer maximum support regardless of cup size. As they have open lace up backs you can add support to underneath the cups to push and lift the cleavage. Plastic boned corsets are not designed for this purpose. Fashion Corset will not offer the control and support of a steel boned corset. Fashion corset is more suitable for ladies that are C cup and under if hoping to wear the garment as a top on a night out.
3.Ladies with larger bust measurements
Steel boned corsets are designed for support and as such are cut for ladies with larger bust measurements. If you are busty you will find the steel boned corsets form any range will fit very well. These corsets are of such quality that you will find the same amount of support from a steel boned corset as a bra. The steel boned corsets are cut so that they are more comfortable for ladies with larger bust measurements.
Style
1.Do you sell overbust corsets with low backs?
All of the plastic boned corsets have low backs, we tend to find that fashion corsets are more suitable for brides as wedding dresses tend to have low backs as well. Steel boned corsets do not have a low back, if they did there would be no support to tension the garment across the bust against. If the forces running through a steel bone corset are not parallel you would find the corset twisted in dug in sharply to your body.
2.Different necklines
Corsets come with 3 main necklines.
1) Straight cut which is the most modest of the necklines, if you would prefer that your cleavage was left to the imagination.
2) Mild sweetheart to tantalise the imagination without giving too much away.
3) Sweetheart line for maximum impact and male attention.
